Custom Domains

Use your own domain name (e.g., link.yourbrand.com) to increase trust and click-through rates.

Why use a Custom Domain?

When you share a link using the default goose.re domain, users might be hesitant because they don't recognize the domain. By using your own domain, like go.yourcompany.com, you reinforce your brand identity and users are much more likely to click.

Branded links receive up to 34% more clicks than unbranded short links.

Adding a Domain

  1. Add in Dashboard: Go to the Domains section in your Goose.re dashboard and click "Add Domain". Type in the domain or subdomain you wish to use (e.g. links.mywebsite.com).
  2. Configure DNS: Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.).
    • If adding a subdomain (like links.domain.com), create a CNAME record pointing to cname.goose.re.
    • If adding a root domain (like mydomain.com), create an A Record pointing to our IP address (shown in your dashboard).
  3. Verification: Click the "Verify" button in Goose.re. DNS propagation can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours.
  4. SSL Provisioning: Once verified, we will automatically provision a free SSL certificate for your domain so your links load securely over HTTPS.

Root Redirects & Fallbacks

What happens if someone visits the base of your custom domain (e.g., https://links.yourwebsite.com/) without a short code attached?

By default, we show a branded "Domain Not Configured" cover page. However, you can configure your custom domain to automatically redirect the root path to your main website or attach it directly to one of your Goose.re Bio Pages.
